God’s Timing : Seasons & Patience

Ever figure out the promises for you life? My steps are usually:

  • Get all excited because it sounds incredible.
  • Primp and prepare for the big day when everything goes as promised.
  • Have a setback and get all discouraged
  • Pick myself off the ground and repeat
  • Once everything is finally here at the perfect moment – thank God things happened the way they did.

Right now I’m in the phase of picking myself off the ground and being excited again. Monday and Tuesday were rough. I was feeling down because I felt tired and drained. “How much more do I have to take for things to work out?” It took me having a conversation with my mentor. “You have to trust that your prayers are being answered, you have to trust everything will be ok.

It’s easier said than done – I know. Setbacks can be disappointing and frustrating. But there are 2 important things to remember:

28 We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. Roman 8:28

When we seek to do the right thing and live a righteous life – everything will be alright. The water may be rough but like I will always tell God “I’m on the boat ready for the ride.”

11 He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also put eternity in their hearts, but no one can discover the work God has done from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:11

Another translation uses the phrase “beautiful in it’s own time.” We may want things fast and in a hurry. But God knows the beauty of having gifts in the right way. There is no point in having what we want if we cannot enjoy it. An appropriate time is in the right season when our hearts and spirit is able to fully enjoy what God wants to give us.

This phase in my life is not easy – I doubt it’s going to be any easier in the future. I know I have God as my rock and that is more than enough.
