How often do we question God? “Well, you said you were going to do it. It’s been a few years and nothing has happened yet.” Abraham is one of the best stories in this case.
This story is found in Genesis 11-25. God calls Abraham and his wife to leave behind everything he knows to be blessed in a new environment. At first, the voice of the lord seems good enough to follow. As time progresses, doubts form and he tries to go out of the promised will. Of course, his choices led to consequences. This guided him to go back to God’s way. Although Abraham still received the blessing, I believe he could have used his time more wisely.
Waiting can be difficult and uncomfortable. When things are moving slowly, I try to find healthy outlets for my frustration. “Ok, I’m not married. Let me focus on my career and hanging out with people that matter to me.” Constructive distractions keep us away from sudden impulse. Things will come together in God’s time. Let us make rational decisions while we wait.

No matter where I go, I seem to have people ask this questions. Directly or indirectly, I know this what some people think. I’m sure people say this to you too. Please do not take this as a sign to back down from who you are in Christ. Stand up for yourself.
Here are a few bible verses to develop your identity:
- We are a child of God (John 1:12 )
- We are created in God’s image (Genesis 1:27)
- We are the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:27)
- We are blessed and highly favored (Luke 1:28)
- We are temples – God lives in us (1 Corinthians 19:20)
- We are given plans to prosper (Jeremiah 29:11)
Just remember that you have a special assignment on this earth. Shine your light!

God thank you for giving me a good night sleep. Thank you for allowing me to be productive last week. And thank you for giving me the resources to be my best self.
God, please forgive me for not be grateful for the things I have in my life. Sometimes I take my blessings for granted. Know that even though I don’t see beauty all of the time – I still think you are amazing.
Please give me the perfect balance of caring for myself and other people. Let me be aware that the way I treat myself is a reflection of God in my life. Give me the strength and wisdom to care for myself first. Please let me see myself the way you see me.
Thank you for giving your son to die on the cross for all of my sins. Even when I fall short of the glory – you always protect me. I love you so much.
Your Kingdom come – your will be done – on earth – how it is done in heaven.
In Jesus Name
So God created man
in his own image;
he created him in the image of God;
he created them male and female.
