What is a Christian Lifestyle?

When I used to hear the phrase “Christian Lifestyle” I used to think “here comes another boring stuck up person telling me what I cannot do.” Then the feeling of wanting to run the other direction when some random stranger is handing out bibles (especially when I was in college.)

As I matured in my walk, I learned a few things that I want to share with you all.

Here are a few tips about the lifestyle:

  • Christians believe in Jesus as their personal savior.
  • The objective of the lifestyle is to honor ourselves as a temple while having the love for others and our environment.
  • Christians are supposed to demonstrate their faith everywhere they go. I used to go the Gym and not speak to anyone. Somehow people started picking up conversations with me. It didn’t matter what I initially wanted to do, I had to represent my religion.
  • Obviously, you don’t throw a bible and holy water at someone screaming “repent or you’re going to hell!”  Jesus says the most important part of a Christian lifestyle is love for others (Mark 12:30-31.) In another scripture, it explains what love is (1 Corinthians 13.) Having respect and compassion for others is what being a Christian is all about. How you treat yourself and others is a reflection of how much you allow God to move in your life. Another thing I want to point out is no you don’t have to be perfect. Your heart is the first thing you should focus on – it will change everything else (Proverbs 4:23)
  • There are several reasons why walking with Jesus is such a great thing. If I had one sentence to say it would be: “he is the source that fulfills all needs.”

I try to write from my own experiences. I hope my examples will influence your personal walk in Christianity.

Evolving Beauty [Life Update]

I’ve been through many phases of my beauty regimen. We all have those moments where we think something looks good until we look back at an old photo and cringe.

Hair, makeup, and nails are a part of what makes me… me. It’s a girly art I enjoy doing.

I guess the point of this blog is to say make sure you have a healthy balance of beauty in your life. Yes, these things can make you feel good about yourself, but don’t let it take away from your spirit.

There was a time I thought that putting on a pound of makeup would take away from the pain and feelings of unworthiness. The outside was perfect, but the way I treated other’s was the case of a classic mean girl.

As I got older, I realized a clogged up spirit [and pores] is not healthy – or cute. It’s ok to take care of our appearance, but if everything else is broken, people will catch on and seize the moment to its full advantage.

When we find our value in God and not of a superficial reality – that is when we become beautiful.

Weekly Prayer 3.19.18

Once again, welcome to this week’s prayer. Here is this week’s prayer.

God,

Thank you for providing the opportunity to seek your presence. Your love and grace are what keep me going and humbly serve you.

I want to pray for those who may not know you or feel distant. I pray that you reveal yourself to anyone that wants to know who you are. Please show that your heart is pure and you want the best for all of us. Show that you are a father who will protect and provide for all – no matter the situation.

Allow our life to have value and abundance of blessings. If there is anything we need to change, let it be put our spirits to change.

Thank you, God, for everything you have and will do.

In Jesus Name,

Amen

You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13

Weekly Prayer 3.12.18

You are welcome here. God loves you – and there is nothing you can do about that. Please prepare your hearts and mind for this weeks prayer.

God,

I love you so much. Even though I can’t see you, I know that you are with me. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve you here on this earth.

God, I pray not to take any of my blessings for granted. This life is hard, but I thank you for everything that you have done for me.

Please do not let me become discouraged from my surroundings. Instead, let me rejoice in your holy name. Jesus has risen and I am able to prosper because I have faith in your son.

I pray for strength in my health. I pray that you uplift me when I am feeling down. Please let your light shine through me. I want the everalsting power to reign in my life. You hold the key to all things possible – including my situations.

Let your love reach those around me so that we may worship you together.

Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth how it is done in heaven.

In Jesus name,

-Amen

25 Year Old Lessons

How many times must we choose to be good? Like me, Amaziah is 25 trying to do the right thing.

Amaziah attempts to follow the law without much effectiveness. When he tries to fund his vision with a strong army,  a wise man advises Amaziah that God is not with his investment.

Amaziah becomes scared of all that he will lose. He is unsure of what he should do. The man of God says not to worry because there is a bigger supply from the main source than there is in money.

As the story continues, the leader did not die in peace. Amaziah was put to death by his enemies.

Here are key points to remember.

  1. Develop a pure heart for God. No, you don’t have to perfect; but please examine your heart & intentions in all that you do.
  2. When we sin – it weakens our effectiveness. Thank God for Jesus who gives us all mercy and grace.
  3. Materialistic supply (ie money, cars, homes, etc.) does not make up for sin and evil.
  4. Be sure of how you treat people. Resentment & bitterness can turn into a serious issue such as preying on your weaknesses.
  5. Sometimes Gods wants us to be patient so that we receive blessings that will benefit us in the long run.

Patience : Fruit of the Spirit

So like I stated in my goals post, men have expressed their interest in me. They were great guys and I found they had potential.

No, I’m not looking for perfection. But the question I have is: how am I supposed to submit to a man who doesn’t even believe in himself.

I’m 25 and my parents are worried I can’t a find a partner. I’m like “relax, I’ve only been single for 6 months, I’m not trying to get into something I will regret for the rest of my life.” And this is where patience comes in.

If this is the season to rest and develop, that is what I’m going to do. Being jealous of other relationships is not going to help my situation. When the right partner comes – I want to fully enjoy him. Bringing baggage and complaints to the table is not a goal of mine.

“He may not come when you want him – but he’ll there right on time” is an old school song we used to sing. God always gives us the things we need, rather than what we want.

Trusting in the highest father is what I’m doing, and I know it will be worth the wait.

In the meantime, I’m making sure my apartment is clean, and I cook meals – even if it’s just for myself. Preparing and evolving is what I’m using my singleness for.

A man who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.

Proverbs 18:22

Tuesday Prayer 2/13/2017

God thank you for providing a life that I never thought I would have. Thank you for allowing things to come together in your time. Even if I don’t fully understand the plans you have over my life, I accept whatever path you want me to take

Sometimes I feel like giving up and throwing in the towel on my dreams. I know that you will always provide all of my needs, even if my wants are pushed the side. I pray that you continue to show me your grace and mercy during difficult times. If I ever feel my hope slipping, I pray that you pick me back up. Let me pursue excellence while also seeking the righteousness of heaven.

I want to serve you with a whole heart. Please see my soul and know that I am at least trying not to conform to this world. I want to see how much you value me through your eyes. I want to value others how you value them. Do not let my heart harden by the uncertainty of life.

Your kingdom comes, your will be done on earth how it is done in heaven.

In Jesus Name,

[Amen]

God is our refuge and strength,
a helper who is always found
in times of trouble.
Therefore we will not be afraid,
though the earth trembles
and the mountains topple
into the depths of the seas,
though its water roars and foams
and the mountains quake with its turmoil.Selah
