I get so frustrated sometimes, it makes me cringe. Here I am minding my own business in public and someone starts talking to me.
“I’m quiet, and over here not bothering a soul. Why do they want to talk to me?”
I finally confessed my fears to my family member “I never wanted to be in the spotlight – but it looks like life will not let me be.”
Over the phone, I hear a soft sigh, and then they finally say: “you just have a natural light about you. People want to know why you are so happy and how you got to where you are in life.”
Even though I want to argue – I can’t. Here I am a female in America. I look like I found the key to a happy life. People have no idea that there is so much I want to do and accomplish.
My spotlight is not my own, it all belongs to God. I am just a vessel to shine his righteousness. Like everyone, I have flaws, secrets, and tragedies that should make my heart harden. Yet I love and give with my all. I am just here to spread the love he has given to me. Anyone can find God’s light. You’re not too big or small to find him. We all have light, we just have to uncover it and shine it brightly.
16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16

Can I be honest with you all? I would like to believe mental battles are my specialty. Every morning I go through all my thoughts and try to tackle them. “Ok, this thing didn’t feel right – I’m going to go through all the possible reasons why this happened.”
Most of the time, I stop and think ”you know this is just your ego talking. Come on we know God fights every battle.” A few minutes later, I come back to earth. Eventually, I choose to love instead of hypotheticals and realize none of the negative stuff matters.
Like me, you may have to remind yourself to rely on God more than yourself. Good intentions can lead to peace and appreciation for success. There is nothing wrong with wanting more – but we have to remember, our father comes first.
We can’t allow our ego to always be the star. Craving power can cause a spiritual addiction which leads to failure. How many times do we hear about famous people having it all only to lose everything? It’s so important not to make ourselves idols.
Let’s continue to pray to remain humble while having the grace of God accompany us. Without him, what would it mean?
12 Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. Matthew 23:12

After doing my morning prayer, I began searching for bible scriptures. Somehow I became fascinated with the book Deuteronomy. What a coincidence! I figure out that this was Jesus most quoted old testament reference.
Deuteronomy was written by Moses once he helped free the slaves. The book was a set of laws given so everyone could live their best life.
Once Jesus began to develop in his spiritual gifts, he went into the wilderness for isolation. Satan tempted Jesus, but he used this Old Testament book to make him flee.
But he answered, “It is written, ‘Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ Matthew 4:4
Jesus said to him, “Once again it is written: ‘You are not to put the Lord your God to the test.’” Matthew 4:7
Then Jesus said to him, “Go away, Satan! For it is written: ‘You are to worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’” Matthew 4:10
How amazing is it Jesus used the Old Testament for power? But oh – it get’s better. Jesus Used this book to make clear the most important commandment of them all.
You must love the Lord your God with your whole mind, your whole being, and all your strength Deuteronomy 6:5
Why is it important to love the God with all of your heart? If he made everything can’t we love other things first?
When you trust and love God – he will give you a peace through any situation. You don’t have to understand or worry about the next phase in your life because it will already be taken care.
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7
So I think it’s safe to say this one of Jesus’s favorite Old Testament books.
