I spend most of my time alone. This blog is called Remote Christian because I work…remotely from everyone else. Besides Sunday, I hit the gym or take a stroll in the park. July and August have really been a slow season in my life.
This period makes feel so anxious. “God, why are you forcing these quiet moments? You know the slowness and uncertainty drives me crazy!” Suddenly – I have flashbacks from other times when my life was slow.
Like this time, I hated the process of being in solitude. So much energy was spent fighting for something to happen – only for it to seem like the effort wasn’t worth it at all.
Then wisdom hits. God knows how much effort we put into circumstances. Our work is needed to push things along, but faith is also required. We all must trust in God’s perfect plan. Like me, all you have to do is not to be discouraged by the seasons.
And he said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat. Mark 6:31

If you ever met me in person you would probably say “man she is really quiet.” I love people, I’m just naturally reserved and an introvert.
Because I’m so quiet, I’m really good at listening and catering to other’s needs. I have learned so much from just sitting and letting people talk & “be themselves.”
May I suggest the challenge of silence for a bit. You might be surprised to find it is pretty powerful.
To be clear it’s ok to respectfully say something. Talking freely is good and needed sometimes. As the saying goes you were given 2 ears and 1 mouth for a reason. Listening and hearing your environment should balance out speaking.
The one who has knowledge restrains his words,
and one who keeps a cool head
is a person of understanding.
Even a fool is considered wise when he keeps silent—
discerning, when he seals his lips. Proverbs 17:27-28
