How often do we question God? “Well, you said you were going to do it. It’s been a few years and nothing has happened yet.” Abraham is one of the best stories in this case.
This story is found in Genesis 11-25. God calls Abraham and his wife to leave behind everything he knows to be blessed in a new environment. At first, the voice of the lord seems good enough to follow. As time progresses, doubts form and he tries to go out of the promised will. Of course, his choices led to consequences. This guided him to go back to God’s way. Although Abraham still received the blessing, I believe he could have used his time more wisely.
Waiting can be difficult and uncomfortable. When things are moving slowly, I try to find healthy outlets for my frustration. “Ok, I’m not married. Let me focus on my career and hanging out with people that matter to me.” Constructive distractions keep us away from sudden impulse. Things will come together in God’s time. Let us make rational decisions while we wait.
